Q.
Hi Tui, what potting mix should I use for bonsai trees? Also, how often do they need re-potting and pruning? Many thanks.
Peggy

Hi Peggy,
Sieve using a hand sieve, potting mix such as Tui All Purpose Potting Mix to remove larger more coarse chunks of bark and add one third pumice. The frequency of re-potting depends on the size of the container and the type of tree. Faster growing trees require re-potting every 2 years. Slower growing trees (eg cedars) every 3-4 years. Bonsais are root pruned to stunt their growth and can be pruned to shape as required. Wire can be used to shape the trees as well.
Thanks, Tui Team
